Sold!

Check out this picture. The Princess took this picture Wednesday on our road! Colored leaves already! That means fall is coming. Fall is my favorite season.

Last night was the Relay for Life in our town. I crocheted an afghan to donate to the auction. After the auction last night, Miss Joy called me to tell me how much the afghan raised and who the highest bidder was. The highest bidders were Grampy and Miss Joy! That made me laugh. I asked her why she bought the afghan, I would've made her one for Christmas or her birthday if I knew she wanted one. She liked that one and wanted it. Okay, that works! A gentleman that Grampy knows made a wooden bench to donate to the Relay for Life auction. He supplied the wood and put the bench together; Trucker had to sand and varnish it. We are thankful that we are able to do something to help cancer research and cancer patients. If you have never attended an opening ceremony for a Relay for Life, I recommend you take one in. So many different emotions are felt and seen.

Maybe it is a parent thing. Several years I crocheted an afghan to donate to Mom's church for a fundraiser. Guess who bought that one - Mom and Marv! They gave it to Nellie, Marv's Mom.

Today has been an enjoyable day. We started it out by musky fishing this morning. We saw two fish, but couldn't entice either of them to bite. I have spent this afternoon baking for church. I signed up to bring the snacks tomorrow. It is tough to walk through the kitchen now without picking at something. We have a counter full of goodies: cherry bars, toffee bars, Congo bars and chocolate cake.

We had some company stop by to visit this afternoon. I didn't have any goodies to offer them other than what I had baked for church. Of course I did not tell them it was for church tomorrow, we just offered them some bars. They turned them down, but the King and Trucker weren't that polite! We now only have 1/3 of the toffee bars left! I have to be honest, I ate one of the toffee bars, too. The Princess made them and they are delicious.

  1. Save one for me! And what the heck is a "Congo Bar"?

I now have Nellie's afgan back. It was just like new. I think I even saw a Ziggy hair. She didn't use it much, just liked to have it near, within sight. It made her happy, now it makes me happy. Some day it will come back to you, almost new, and you can send it on its way again to make others happy. Warm thoughts are just as nice as warm feet!!

  2. Congo bars are ooey and gooey bars with coconut, sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips and butterscotch chips all on a graham cracker crust! I will make them for you sometime. You'll like them!
