Protection

Not from my yard! Bought this peony from a neighbor who puts cut flowers at the end of her drive way for people to buy on the honor system! $2.00 for three peonies, seemed like a buy to me!

We are home from Mom and Marv's now. Praise the Lord for safe travels. We are especially thankful for safety for Mom, Marv, Trucker and W on Friday morning. Just as they got into St. Paul Friday morning, in their '57 Ford Fairlane, they got a flat tire. After getting the tire changed, they lost their brakes. (Trucker says he is still a Ford Man after all of that!) Not what you want to happen when you are going 60 mph on the freeway real close to down town. Marv raced cars way back in the day (fifty or a hundred years ago!) and he said it all came back to him real quick. He had to get in the slow lane, catch one of the exit ramps, slide between parked and moving cars and get the car to a stop along the curb. How do you get a car to stop when you don't have brakes? I would slam it into park and deal with whatever damage I did to the tranny or engine or whatever else. Seeing as how Marv is a mechanic also, that is not how you are supposed to do it. I think he put it into reverse/other gears and coasted to a stop. To make a long story a little shorter; the tow truck came and picked up Marv and the car and brought them back to their house. The Princess and I went and picked up Mom, Trucker and W; dropped Trucker and W off at Back to the '50's where they bummed around all day. My Uncle was there and gave them a ride back home. Thanks John! Mom did not let the whole ordeal slow her down any, she went shopping with the Princess and I! I think everyone had a great weekend except for Marv. He worked on the car for nine hours Friday so that it would be ready to try again for St. Paul on Saturday. After all of that kneeling, squatting, getting up and down and standing on a concrete floor he did not feel like going to the Back to the '50's! I cannot blame him.

While it all makes for a good story today, I was so thankful to God for letting it end the way it did. Not one person hurt. It could have been so much worse. Thank you God. I love, Lord; you are my strength.

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. Psalm 18:1-2 nlt

The Lord is my light and my salvation-so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? Psalm 27:1-2 nlt
