Here is the next square of my mystery quilt. I still have one more like this one to make, I think they called it the shoo-fly block. I don't know where that name came from, but I'm sure there is a story behind it. I don't think I can get the next block until the third week of April. I guess I will have to go back to working on Mom's quilt again. Good thing she is not counting on this quilt to keep her warm because I have been working on it since December!
The King was at his parents this weekend helping them tap trees for maple syrup. I think he said they tapped 250 trees Saturday and already collected 170 gallons of sap Sunday. In order for the sap to keep running good for them, they need the temps to be freezing at night (20's) and warm up to the 40's during the days.

The weather is really getting spring like here the last few days. I think we even hit 50* yesterday. Right now it is 53*! I just saw the grader going by and throwing the slush and slop off the roads into the ditch. As nice as the temps were the last few days, walking was terrible, your feet were soaked, even in boots. Not any more! I know we will get more snow before spring is here for good, but I will enjoy these days of no slop on the roads for now.
Right now I have three loaves of cheese bread rising. As soon as they come out of the oven I will have to take the dogs for a walk and make sure the grader guy did a good job!!
