"Good Job, Marv!"

Monday afternoon I had a dentist appointment. Most people hate going to the dentist. It is not on the top of my favorite to do list, but God has blessed me with some nice teeth. I have not had a cavity since I was a kid, never had to do any braces, root canals or any other torturous dental thing!

As I sat in the dental chair, the teeth cleaning lady said, "Nice necklace, I like that, it is so sparkly and pretty". It was the first time I wore my new Christmas necklace from Marv. Every year, for several years now, Marv gets me a new necklace for Christmas. Other years I reminded him, as he is aging and I did not want him to forget and feel bad on Christmas day when he realized he forgot my necklace!! Ha!Ha! It was all in fun as I pestered him for my new necklace but I also always looked forward to getting new jewlery. With the economy the way it is now, Marv retired now and Mom's hours at church cut during the year; I did not say a thing to him about this year's necklace. He remembered and got me one anyway! The dentist lady is right, it is a very pretty, sparkly necklace that looks like a snowflake. I am hoping the pretty, sparkly part reminded him of me and not the flaky part! I do enjoy getting the necklaces every year, but the idea that he takes the time each year to look at jewlery and pick out just the right one for me is special. Thanks, Marv! I explained to the teeth cleaning lady that I get a new necklace every year from my Step-Dad. When she was done cleaning my teeth she told me good job, no cavities, and tell Marv "Good job, too!"
