Last night the King had a softball game. He called me during the day to tell me he was going to have to work late and ask me to bring his softball stuff to the field. Yes, I can do that, but I have to go to Freshman Orientation night with Trucker. I don't know if I will make it to the field in time for the beginning of the game. The King tells me to put the softball gear in the van and he will come to the high school and pick it up. Sounds like a good plan to me.
I open the closet where he keeps his glove and there are five of them in there! Five - who needs five gloves? I do not know which one he uses so I tell Trucker (because they are on the top shelf and I cannot reach up there!) to grab all of them. That way our bases are covered. (No pun there! Get it? Bases...softball!) I go get his tee-shirt, shorts and cleats. Everything is in the van so I cannot forget it when I leave.
I have a little time left before we need to go so I run upstairs to throw in a load of wash. Good thing I did that. His sweat pants are upstairs, folded, waiting to be brought downstairs. He likes to wear these if it is a little chilly out. I set the pants to the side so I remember to bring them down when I go back downstairs, and I continue on with the laundry. Never thought about the pants again! Left them right where I put them so I couldn't miss them, or so I thought.
Trucker and I go into school to get done what needs to be done. When we are walking out I call the King and make sure he got his softball gear. Well, he kind of got his gear. I forgot his baseball cap and sweat pants. And I did not have the right glove! I asked him how I did not have the right glove - we grabbed every glove on the shelf.
If I had looked at the lower shelf, which is more at my eye level, I would have seen his baseball cap. If I would have picked up his cap I would have seen another glove under the cap! That would have been my clue as to which glove to bring!
Oh well, I tried. At least I showed up at the right field!
Then the Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him." Genesis 2:18 nlt I wonder if the King was doubting this verse last night.
Cute post, Candy!
ReplyDeleteAt least he didn't end up with a helpmate who said "You're a big boy, take your stuff with you!" or one who said "What comes first, your son or your softball?". I think he ended up with a great helpmate!! You tried your best. Five gloves! What would your helpmate do if you asked him to bring your good sandals to work for you? Would you end up clomping around all day in Sorrels? The word is "help"mate, not "do it for me"mate. We're all lucky if we can find the right helpmate. And should be greatful for it. I love mine!!
