So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God. Ecclesiastes 3:12,13 nlt
I like this verse. It made me think of the gift of the wood that was given to us yesterday. Marv's cousin does woodworking, maybe if we give him a couple of big chunks of maple, he will give us a big bowl made out of the wood. I have seen those at art shows, but never wanted to spend the money on them. They are beautiful, and I'm sure a lot of work goes into them, I just never had the extra money to spend on one.
The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace. Psalm 29:11 nlt
I couldn't help but think of this verse today as Trucker and I were loading up more wood. Thankful for the strength He gives us (more to Trucker than me!) to do this kind of work. And peaceful out there, oh yes, you couldn't ask for a more peaceful place. There is a big lake on one side of us and woods on the other three. You could hear the breeze in the trees, the water hitting the shore and Trucker's maul hitting, cracking and splitting the wood. Those were the only noises you heard. We were far enough off the road that you couldn't hear any vehicles. There wasn't anyone fishing or skiing by us so you couldn't hear any boating noises, either. Yes, indeed, it was a beautiful, peaceful morning.
Happy birthday to my cousin C. today! Don't do any cooking, cleaning or bathing little tykes today, C. You deserve a day off!
I'm glad you can "stop and enjoy the roses" even if your flower isn't a rose. And enjoy all the other gifts God gives us just to make us happy. The hard part is the "stopping". I sometimes think my brakes are worn. They scretch (to remind me to fix them), but I ignore it as long as I can. Too much trouble, takes time, etc. Think what I am missing by not stopping! And once past, poof, gone! I think I better get my brakes fixed--SOON!
ReplyDeleteConnie says your flower is a Foxglove and they can't grow up by you. She and her friend Deb can't even get them to grow well here! You should be impressed. Maybe they're some amazing, Super Foxglove? By the way, how's Millie doing?
