More Picture Talk

The Princess planting some of our flowers yesterday. I bet you don't have cool, zebra print, flower planting clothes like that. Those are her painting clothes, too! I always thought they were pajamas, but what do I know?! And what do I care? As long as she keeps painting walls and planting flowers, she can wear whatever she wants! Thanks, Bess, you're the best.

While looking at pictures at Grandma and Grandpa's Sunday, I saw a group of pictures that I had never seen before. Grandpa was one of thirteen children, ten of those children were boys, eight of the ten boys served our country in the one of the branches of the armed forces. He has a small picture of each one of the boys in their military uniform, and he put all eight of them in a collage. That was pretty neat to look at. I have heard him tell several stories about World War II and about his brothers serving in different wars, but never realized that eight of them served. Not all eight were in World War II, some were in the Korean War and one or two were in Vietnam. During World War II, Grandpa was in Virginia building something for a while, he did not learn until a few months later that his brother was also in Virginia, about twenty-five miles away, at the same time. As it turned out, they did not get to see each other until the war was over and they were both back home. Learning that eight of the boys were in the service was interesting. It was also neat to see a picture of all eight of them at the same age. When my Dad was eighteen or twenty he looked just like my Grandpa did at eighteen or twenty. Now one of my cousins who is around twenty now looks just like they did. That was a resemblance that I have always known of. Seeing some of the other family resemblances was fun.

While I was gone over the weekend, the King and Trucker pulled a box out of one of our cubby holes that we use for storage. In that box was a stack of pictures from shortly after we were married and some more from when the Princess was a newborn and her first Christmas. She was such a cutie. As for some of the pictures of myself from twenty years ago, that sure is an incentive to lose some unwanted and unneeded weight!
Look who tried to join us for dinner last night!

  1. You have your own gardener! Just like rich folks - how cool is that?

And Gilbert Brown! Cracks me up that he ordered a diet pepsi.

My sister used to tutor William Perry (the fridge - Chicago Bears). Another big boy!

I am so sad that you didn't take pics at the quilt show. Maybe you can show us some of your loot!

    Have a great day!

  2. I sure hope that critter wasn't on your menu! Although there would be legs for all!
