Would You Like That Grilled or Baked?

Monday I put a pork roast in the oven. I had two loaves of bread sitting on the stove, rising. When the pork roast was done, the bread would be ready to go in the oven. Every thing went as planned, except the oven. I opened the door to get the roast out, and there was very little heat in there. Not a good sign! The oven display said the oven was still on, but there wasn't any heat. I tried turning the oven off, waiting a couple of minutes and turning the oven back on - nothing. We bought the oven in October 2006, so it is not very old. The repair person is coming tomorrow to look at it. I'm hoping it will not be expensive to fix.

Are you wondering what I did with the loaves of bread that needed to be baked? I did what anybody would do...I grilled them! Trucker got the grill fired up, the King watched it for a while to get the heat moderated, and then in went the bread. It worked pretty well. When the bread had twenty minutes to go, the temp. was getting too hot in there, so I propped the lid open an inch or so with a block of wood. If you would have seen or ate a piece of the bread, you would not know it was grilled instead of baked. At least nobody in this house minded, two loaves of bread gone in three days. That may be a new way to bake bread in the summer instead of using the oven. People baked bread over an open fire for years, I guess I can use a gas grill!
