We got Mom and Marv's quilt done just in time. Mom and I finished it up the night before Trucker and I had to leave, around 9:00 pm! Talk about cutting it close. In this picture, it is not finished yet, but you can see how it looks. We were laying the backing, batting and face of the quilt on the floor to pin it all together. Fancy, their hound dogger, was checking it out to see if she thought she would like it on her bed or not.
I have a couple table runners I want to make now, but those will go quick. My next big project will be a quilt for Trucker. He was pushing me to get Mom and Marv's done so that I could get started on his! Mom and I have been having fun buying material for his quilt. I needed twenty-one fat quarters that made me think of him. We have fat quarters with pictures of heavy construction equipment, scoops of ice cream, diamond plate, hunting and fishing themes, dogs, railroad equipment and other fat quarters that I don't remember right now. That will be a fun quilt to make, too, and will have lots of love and prayers for him with it.
Whenever I am making something for someone, I like to pray for them while I am working on the project. While working on Mom and Marv's quilt, I thanked the Lord a ton for them. For Mom's loving and patient ways with me when I was not so loving and patient, for bringing Marv into our lives, for a safe and successful cataract surgery for Mom this Friday, for God's timing in finding a home up here for them and the selling of their home and thanking God for the fun times we have together. I have an afghan I am working on for the Princess, I have thanked God for giving her to us to raise and teach, thanked Him for her tender heart and compassion she has for others, I pray that she will have the faith and strenghth in God that will be needed to face any trials that will come her way as she is growing up and in her adult life, I pray that she will know His will for her and will obey it. While working on the Trucker's quilt, I will be thanking God for giving him to us to raise also, I will be thanking Him for the dry sense of humor He gave Trucker, for his ability to get along with and patience with the elderly, I will also be praying for his future, that when he leaves our home he will continue a relationship with the Lord, strength for him to fight the temptations that will come his way. As I sit here, I think of so many things to pray for, I could go on and on forever. I better get crocheting or quilting and praying!
Hey Sweet, I wondered why that quilt was so heavy. Thanks for all the prayers. Like everybody, we need lots. Fancy and Cleo both approve the quilt. Maybe too much! Makes me wish I'd appreciated our little, bald Sparky dog more.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt. And I too, pray for the recipient of anything I make. Right now I'm embroidering a bib for Joshua. And praying.
ReplyDeleteLove your new header! It feels much warmer. Where was that picture taken?
Mom - You are very welcome! And a little dog and cat hair make a quilt homier and snugglier. Maybe warmer, too!
ReplyDeleteCheri - That is another one of Mom's pictures. It is of Lake Superior, but I don't know where on Lake Superior.
