Another Rug and More Books!

Here is another penny rug Mom made me for Easter. I thought this bunny was too cute! I don't think he is an Easter bunny either, he is a spring bunny, so I can leave him out for a while yet! Mom doesn't know it yet, but I saw another pattern at the King's Mom's house for a Christmas penny rug. It is several mice around the edge all wearing Santa hats, red pajamas and holding a candy cane. Very cute and Carol said I could borrow it. I will borrow it so Mom can make it for me!! Or is that letting Mom borrow it? Who knows, but it all works for me!

Over break I got two books read. The first one is titled Dog On It by Spencer Quinn. Fun book to read with some good chuckles along the way. The story is about a man and dog detective team, but the whole book is written from the dog's point of view! The "about the author" says that Spencer Quinn is hard at work on his next Chet (the dog) and Bernie (the man) adventure. I will be watching for that book to come out. Since the book is a mystery, I don't want to say any thing else because it would give the story away.
The other book I read is titled The Quilter's Apprentice by Jennifer Chiaverini. This is the first book in a series of eight or ten books. My mother-in-law lent me the whole series, big mistake! I read this one in two days and have already started the second one. The book was published several years ago, I just never got around to reading it. The Quilter's Apprentice is about a young couple who meet an elderly lady who lives in a mansion that has been in her family for over one hundred years. The home has been neglected for quite some time, so the young couple are helping her restore the home and grounds to the way she remembers it as a young child. The elderly lady starts teaching the younger lady how to quilt and tells her stories about the home, her family and her life. I know I am behind times here in this series, and that many of you have already read several of these books, but if you have not yet, they are worth your time.
Now I need to get outside and get the hound doggers for a walk. It is in the fifties out there! Yipppeeee! They are calling for 67* tomorrow. Maybe it will hit the big 70* mark. The first day of each spring that it hits 70*, I take the Trucker and Princess to Dairy Queen for a blizzard. What a person won't come up with as an excuse to go to Dairy Queen! Even though they are fourteen and fifteen years old, they still watch the temps waiting for the 70* day. I guess that is not so odd, I am almost forty and I still wait for the 70* day Dairy Queen run!

  1. Those mice better be really BIG and easy to cut and sew! I'm so far behind now with these rugs that you keep finding, I'll never catch up. Maybe that's why I need eye surgery? Marv thinks they're WAY too much work for what you get out of them. Oh well, you're worth it. Don't tell anyone but I do enjoy doing them. Maybe I'll slip one in for myself in the next couple of years.
