The weekend is over and Mom and Marv had to go back home yesterday. Mom and I don't have any finished projects to show for our time spent together, but we did enjoy each other's company. Mom got me into a mystery block of the month quilt through a quilt shop where she lives. Every month, for nine months, I will get the fabric and pattern to make a new block. She brought the first two months up and we got the material cut out, but not sewn together. I will show you a picture of each block as they get completed!

We went to our local quilt shop (if you call thirty miles away local!) and spent some time browsing and buying. Mom and I are going to jointly work on a quilt for the Princess. We will be buying twelve blocks that need to be embroidered (Mom's part) and then we will sew borders around each block and sew them together for a quilt. Each block tells a story about a mouse named Milo and different things going on in his life. I think it will be adorable when it is finished. I will be seeing Mom again the first week of April, if she has one of the blocks embroidered by then, I will show you a picture so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about.
Marv and Trucker on the other hand got some projects accomplished. They installed a new faucet in the bathroom sink, our old one was leaking. They also made two brackets to hang up a gun rack that Trucker made in school last semester. Good job, guys! Thanks!
Saturday; the King, a friend of his, Grampy and Miss Joy went ice fishing on Lake Superior. The fishing wasn't great, but they said it was a beautiful day to be on the ice. They were fishing in water that was 230' deep! It is hard to imagine water that deep. I don't know if I want to imagine standing on ice over water that is that deep! The guide told them that it is not very often that you can even go out that far because the ice does not usually form that far out, I think they were ten or twelve miles from shore.

I will stick to walking on this ice, about ten feet from shore and the water is only five feet deep! Mom took this picture of the Trucker and I when we all went for a walk down by the lake.
As we were out bumming around, we stopped so Mom could take a picture of a little creek that was just starting to open up. Today is the fourth day in a row that we have had temps in the 40's. It is not supposed to last though, I saw this morning that tomorrow night is supposed to be -10*. Oh well, that will make us appreciate spring all the more!
Thanks for the pictures and a fun weekend, Mom and Marv!
Happy Birthday tomorrow! Well, today, actually, but since I can't get you on the phone, this will have to do. I sent an e-mail but who knows where those go or when. We had a ball this past weekend. And at 60 I'm allowed 2 bathroom breaks on a long drive, maybe even 3!
