Boys and Their Toys and Dog Puke!

I didn't really know what to blog about today, so I will share my evening with you from last night. It's not the most exciting night in the world, so if you want to skip this blog for a few other blogs you want to read, I will totally understand!

As I was in the middle of making supper, Trucker comes into the kitchen to ask me if I wanted to come and watch him "peel out on the ice and slush with the four wheeler". The wheeler is a 1987 Yamaha Big Bear, 4x4, 350cc's with Ford mudflaps. (The Trucker wanted you to know this info!) I could not go outside right at the moment because I had sausage frying, so I told him to give me a few minutes. He didn't have a few minutes to spare, so could I just go to the window and watch. Sure, I can do that. It was fun to watch, I must admit. He did have the back end of the wheeler fish tailing pretty good with some slush flying. I think that is the only reason he wanted me to come outside to watch, he figured he could get me with the cold slush. Little does he know that I grew up around one of my Uncles and some of his friends. I have also spent quite a bit of time with some of the guys from our youth group. They tried the same tricks! You know who you are, and I know your Mothers know who you are; Lora, Sue and Cheri! Just kidding, your sons were awesome and I loved every minute that they were out here. Now, back to the Trucker and his tricks. As I am typing this, he is trying to convince me that his plan was not to get me wet. I should have turned the sausage off, and went outside to watch because just as he turned to go out the door and I was going into the dining room to watch out the window, Toad gave us quite a noise and a runny pile of yuck came out of his mouth! Now are you wishing you skipped over this blog?! Needless to say, the Trucker took off for the door in record speed. Those of you who know him know that he usually moves at a slow pace. Not last night! He was polite enough to watch through the window and wait for me to get the mess cleaned up and get to the window to watch though.

The reason I was in a hurry to get supper made to begin with was because it was Wednesday night. That means I want to get the kids to church by 6:30 for youth group. We eat supper, talk, the Princess made some cookies and Trucker and I went over his spelling words. I worked on Mom's quilt a little bit. It was an all around enjoyable evening, except for Toad's contribution.

Around 9:00 I got ready for bed and went into the bedroom to read for a while. As I hit the bed, I realized that we forgot all about it being Wednesday and forgot all about youth group. How does that happen?!

  1. Amazing how that happens...completely spacing something out that you've planned on...welcome to the world of middle-aged women! ;)

And by the by...thanks so much for the cute card and sweet words of encouragement. It did make me smile...though after reading your post I'm afraid I may envision a big runny pile of yuck coming out of the basset's mouth. Thanks for sharing.
