Well I wasn't real sure about this blogging stuff to begin with. Jess, The Princess, pretty much set the whole thing up for me and then we tried to get into our blog to make sure I knew what I was doing. Lo and behold, I didn't! We had a word spelled wrong in the address, Happeneings instead of Happenings! Should my new year resolution be to get better at spelling or to blog?!! We had to delete that blog and recreate another one. I think we have it right now. I was ready to call it quits, but Jess said it will only take a few minutes. Is God trying to teach me patience through Jessie and the computer? I read on The Butler's Wife's blog that her word for 2009 is going to be simplicity. Maybe mine will be patience, I hope not!
Jess will be leaving today for the weekend with our church youth group to go to a Christian youth conference. I will be praying that she will leave the conference Sunday morning having learned more about Christ or with a desire to grow closer to Him this year. I have not gone to this conference for a few years now, but did go for several years before that. Even though the conference is for the youth, I walked away from there every year with something that I gleaned. I will never forget the first time that I went, that was my first Christian conference of any kind. It was an undescribeable feeling to see 1,500 students and their youth pastors and leaders all worshipping Christ and not caring who was around them or what they thought. While all of the conferences were great, it was also a weekend of very little sleep! Being in a motel room with four to eight teenage girls does not allow for much sleep! Although we usually had a few great conversations and had girls opening up their hearts during those times in the room, too, so that made it all worth it. I need to thank our youth pastor, his wife, and the youth leaders that are taking time away from their own homes and families this weekend to spend time with my daughter and all the rest of the students that will be there. If you ever have the chance to chaperone a youth conference or send your student to one, it will not be a waste of your time or money. God will use that time!

Hi Candy!
ReplyDeleteHooray! You are blogging! I am so happy to see that you are here. Don't worry, I had a few bumps along the way when I started too.
I have found blogging to be good therapy for me and it has also helped me be more attentive to the ways God is working in my life.
You go girl!
May I link to your blog from mine?
