Great Oak Tree

I don't know if there is an oak tree in this picture or not, but I figured there must be at least one in there!

Tonight was Bible study night. We studied Isaiah 61:1 – 3, the last part of verse 3 stood out to me. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for His own glory. nlt

What do you think of when you think of a great oak? I think of strong, mighty, and hard to take down. Then to think that God makes us like great oaks for His glory is another great thought. He created us that way. Whether we think of ourselves as strong and mighty does not matter; we are created for His glory.

One of the ladies in Bible study commented that she once heard the saying, “An oak tree is an acorn that stood his ground.” I liked that saying.

Sometimes it is hard to stand your ground. Sometimes it is even harder to know when you need to stand your ground. Through Him we can be strong and mighty. The times when we feel weak, He is still there for us and He is strong and mighty. During those times we can rely on His strength and might.
