Baby Shower Bloopers

Mom took this picture two years ago. Today we got an inch or two of snow and it made me think of this picture.

The Princess, Carol and I spent the day together Saturday, and what a day we had. It was a blast. We had to go to a baby shower about seventy miles away, for the King’s niece. Fifteen minutes into the ride, Carol asks me if I have the directions to Megan’s house. No, I thought she grabbed them. Nope, she doesn’t have them either. Oh well, we will call my sister-in-law if we can’t find the house.

We found the house without any problem. Good thing, too, because my sister-in-law and her daughter forgot their directions, too! Carol and I heard there was a nice quilt shop in this little town so we had allowed ourselves plenty of time to look around. Before we headed to the quilt shop we saw a quaint little book store. We both love book stores, so we had to go check that out. While waiting in the check out lane for Carol to pay for her purchases, I realized I had my vest on inside out. I had been wandering around half a day with my vest on inside out! I fix my vest and we headed for the quilt shop.

Yes, I found a few things I had to have. Well, okay, I didn’t have to have them; I just wanted them really bad! They will make a nice gift for someone. Carol saw a quilt in there she wanted to make. The quilt required twenty different fabrics, so that took us a while to get those picked out and for the clerk to cut all of that. While we were in the shop, Kelly and Jenni came in to look around with us. Now it is ten minutes until the baby shower starts so Kelly, Jenni and our Princess head over to the shower. They will tell everyone else that Carol and I will be a few minutes late.

We get to the shower twenty minutes late. Kelly made a basket for Megan, Jenni bought all kinds of necessary baby supplies and I made the quilt. The quilt and supplies are going into the basket with a card saying that it is from all of us. When I walk into the house, Kelly tells me where the basket is at for me to put the quilt in to. I look at the Princess, didn’t she grab the quilt? She says no, she wrapped it and left it lying on the table for me to grab! What? We walk into the shower twenty minutes late, and then we don’t even have a gift? That was good for many more laughs!

Needless to say, I will be shipping out a package to Megan this week!

  1. It's nice to know there is some of me in you. Remember the day when you waited for me to comb my hair (I forgot because I was chased out of the bathroom!!) and you were nice enough to just wait and not rush me? I wonder how long we would have been in that motel if your patience hadn't run out. Will we ever forget that day? Boy, it's nice to see our quirks show up in our kids! And I bet the Princess never lets you forget that you left the gift or forgot to dress right.

  2. I know Bess and I will never forget the day you didn't comb your hair! Funny stuff. As for the gift, she forgot to bring it, not me!! Although I am sure she is blaming me.
