Mom and Marv left this morning to go back home. As much as I would like to have them here for the rest of the weekend, they had plans for tomorrow. Oh well!
We had a great time while they were here. We took a ride to Ontonagon, Michigan, one day. It was a beautiful day filled with good weather, beautiful scenery and some of my favorite company. I'm sure I will be showing you lots of pics in the next few days or weeks.
We pulled off into one little park and saw this.

Then drove up closer and read this.

I wonder how long it took them during the Civil War days to get from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Green Bay, Wisconsin. That had to be a tough and miserable trip at times. How blessed we were to jump in my van, drive up there, spend the day and drive home the same day. I know it was not like that in the 1860's!
In Ontonagon we ordered pasties to go from one of the local diners. Those pasties were huge! In the middle, they were so thick you could barely get your mouth over it. I knew we were in a small local diner when the very busy waitress ran over to the cash register, opened the cash drawer and told the local patron how much her lunch was. The customer put her twenty dollar bill in the drawer, took out her change, shut the drawer and left. I love visiting places like that.
