I finished reading Twenty Wishes by Debbie Macomber this morning. The book was about a small group of widows who were good friends and decided to make a list of twenty wishes. They listed things they have always wanted and new things that they thought of as they were older and single. The book was average, I've read better and I've read worse. The twenty wishes got me thinking though. They did not list the same things we all wish for; health, success for our kids, happiness. I think they left those out because almost everyone wishes for those things. They made their lists up of personal things.
Shortly after I started reading the book, I got to thinking about what my twenty wishes would be. I was a little worried at first because I could only come up with a few wishes. I thought I must be a boring, dull person that never dreams or wishes. Mom made me feel better when she told me that meant that I was a content person with where I was and what I had. Once I looked at it that way, I felt better about myself!
After more time and thinking about it, I was able to add more wishes to my list. I still don't have twenty, but I will share with you what I have, in no particular order
 1. See the Grand Canyon
 2. See Niagra Falls
 3. Have a newfoundland dog some day (not for a long time, two dogs at a time are plenty!)
 4. go for a hot air balloon ride
 5. I wish I enjoyed playing in the dirt and planting flowers so that I had a beautiful, colorful yard full of flowers. I love looking at people's yards that are full of flowers, but don't enjoy doing it. (I have tried it a few years, but don't enjoy gardening at all)
 6. I want to make a crazy quilt some day
 7. I don't want to be rich, but wish we had enough money that whenever I wanted to try a new recipe, I could just do it! Not have to wait until we had enough extra money to buy the needed ingredients or have to worry about making another trip into town.
 8. Mom and Marv lived much closer, like in our same town, or in our same neighborhood
 9. work as a secretary in our school district
10. I want to catch a 50" musky
I'll let you know if I come up with more. I'll certainly let you know when one of these becomes a reality instead of a wish!
How about you? Are you able to think of twenty wishes at the drop of a hat? Can you come up with any? Are you a dreamer or do you deal with the here and the now and not give much thought to the future? Let me know! I would love to see your Twenty Wishes List! Or at least a partial list. Dream big!
